Saturated fat makes up 90% of coconut oil, fifty percent of that contains lauric acid. Lauric acid supports immunity. Once in the body lauric acid converts into another substance called monlaurin that has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-protozoa properties. Coconut oil can be used for cooking, skin care and hair care. It is used as energy and not stored as fat. Some give it credit in their weight loss achievements.
