I came across this picture in my Facebook news feed, and it captured my attention. Once I shared it, my recognition of its depth was confirmed. Chris Hernandez was the original source of the post I shared, though this picture has made its rounds through social media appearing on tumbler, instagram, and multiple facebook accounts. My friend Connie added her view. I thought it would make a great post to add my voice to the voices explaining the photo.
Michael theMentor’s View: Even in her distress, she refuses to give up the key. She reaches out with the empty hand rather than risking the loss of the key. And, this is the human condition, risk averse even in the face of our own demise.
I am often astonished at the lengths you will take to protect yourself. I have presented the key many times: focus on developing discernment rather than the seemingly easy out of resisting every opportunity. The inclination to reach as you are falling can be the opportunity to give of yourself fully. In the end, you have not lost what you were not prepared to give. My hope is not that your everything works out without fail, but that you have no regrets. I want you to sink, if that be the outcome, not wondering what would have been if you would have trusted just inches more.
Connie’s Response: Everything you believe about yourself and others, is born from a paradigm of belief you are holding. Just as trust and distrust issues can save or destroy us if we allow, fear cannot exist without allowing it to take us over. What you think about magnifies in your life. So magnify trust unless you are given the nudge from the Universe not to. These feelings will work “with you” not “for you.” Thoughts of constant distrust weaken us. Release the belief that you cannot trust others. Give everyone a chance, and the opportunity to prove the Univeral law correct: that we receive what we think about. Anything you desire to do, you can do. Such as saving yourself in what seems a losing battle.
